The Friday night Channel 4 panel show 8 Out Of 10 Cats has recently returned for a lucky 13th series. Jimmy Carr, Sean Lock and John Richardson, along with a band of new guest stars, return to start a new series of satirical bantering of the hottest pieces of new each week. Treading the line between satire and insult, the three regulars come back to make us laugh at the state of the world.
A quick guide to Panel shows, since we don't get a lot here in America. Only thing I can think of here in America is Chelsea Lately. Regular comedians, usually the host and team captains, are joined by guests every week to participate in a clever game whilst cracking jokes. For those unfamiliar, British TV usually marks series iterations as "series" instead of the American annotation of "season".
Jimmy Carr is back to his usual antics mixing his wide repertoire of comedy routines with clever jokes stemming from his quick wit. He commands the order of the show as he steers the hilarity of the panel game. Joining him still is the humorously cranky Sean Lock (Team Captain since Series 1) and the sensitive yet cynical John Richardson (Team Captain since Series 11). All three are good at rallying jokes and keep the fun and interest high for the whole duration of the program. Never running out of things to say, this show really abuses the latest news for its enjoyment and ours.
