The Winner Is... Not The Sing-Off
The Sing-Off has been dropped from NBC's line-up and announced to be replace by a new singing talent show called The Winner Is. It will feature a new form of elimination process, and a new prize for contestants to outdo each other for.
The Winner Is features solo contestants going head to head with one another similar to the battle rounds of the Voice. Appropriately this new show was developed by The Voice producer John de Mol. The show has been beefed up with a new grand prize of $1 Million. Players can retire mid-competition by taking whatever money they've earned. Much have been left unsaid about the talent contest by NBC such as the panelists who will be judging the participants or when the show's first episode will be aired though it will likely be Fall, sometime between America's Got Talent and The Voice. Does dropping The Sing-Off filled with competing groups in favor of a new singing contest with the age old favorite of solo contestants justify the move?
