Video Game Geeks Rejoice, E3 Approaches
June 4 marks the start of another epic Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). It's the place to be for video game news. So expect Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony to bring their A+ games. Along with the big game developers, this is the video game event of the year.
If you're a video game aficionado, or even just a fan, this is where all the announcements for upcoming games are coming. Spike will be covering the conferences live at starting on Monday June 4, 2012 with Microsoft at 09:30am and ending the day with Sony at 06:00pm. Then on Tuesday June 5, 2012 Nintendo will be closing out the conferences at 09:00am after which the show floor coverage opens and stalls filled with new games and demos will be the highlights of the expo until Thursday June 7, 2012. All this will be happening at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
Expect updates about projects taking the spotlight this year including the popular franchises such as Halo, Resident Evil, Tomb Raider, and Sim City. The current project stealing the attention of the video game community is the Wii U (may not be the final name), the successor to the successful Wii console. The Wii changed how we thought games could be played by including movement into controls as opposed to just traditional buttons. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is a perfect example of this. But now the Wii U offers the addition of a touchscreen controller equipped with several different functions (we'll tackle that later on during the conference). Don't fret the Wii Remotes won't go to waste, they'll be usable along with the touchscreen to not change the Wii formula completely but add a new layer.
New games have been announced to appear and of course we'll be expecting of projects already shown during last year's expo, Tokyo Game Show, and throughout the year such as Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Kingdom Hearts 3DS, Sim City 5, Assassin's Creed 3, Halo 4, plus all of your favorites and more some. So stay tuned for the video game event of the year and with Nintendo's release, possibly the mark of the new console generation.
